On 24th/25th June, a small Velocity contingent took to Mote Park, Maidstone to compete once more at the Kent Championships. Our competition started out with our Advanced A girls Jess P, Becca, Jess M and Katharine on the Saturday – for many of these girls, this was their first competition at a new level and we are very proud at how they all held their nerve against some very tough competition. With the arrival of our new table vault we now have the ability to push these girls further to achieve maximum start values ahead of regionals in October!

Sunday saw our youngest squad members take to the floor in Key Steps and Novice. In the first round, Ellie, Scarlett, Eden and Flo competed in the Key Steps B category whilst Tillie braved the Novice girls in her age category. There was some incredibly tough competition for both sets of girls, but Eden and Tillie held their nerve to place 3rd and 6th in their respective categories.

Our final competition on Sunday saw our Key Steps A teams compete for the Kent titles. Maddie, Jess K and Sophia H all competed in the 7 year age category, whilst Erin faced the 6 year old category. Erin and Maddie had a fantastic competition achieving PB scores, and having a taste of competing on a county stage. Jess K performed a personal best floor achieving 5th place, only 0.35 behind our Kent county Champion Sophia H!

A huge well done to all of those who competed over the weekend – now on to the club competition in two weeks time!
